Presentation of Epycuir
An artisanal company nestled in the heart of the Vosges mountains, in Thiéfosse in France, Epycuir was born from the professional experience of Mrs Virginie Py, a qualified saddle maker who has been independent for over 18 years. The Epycuir spirit is a new philosophy of craftsmanship, where tradition rhymes with innovation, with respect for the horse.
Mrs Virginie Py makes each item by hand while respecting traditional French saddlery. It offers you saddles (hiking, dressage, mixed, etc.), harness parts (side-pull, bridle, halter, harness, etc.), luggage, various creations (chaps, dog collars, cases), repairs but also advice on ergonomics.
Testimony of Epycuir
"As a saddler, Printed Gavarnie leather gives me complete satisfaction. Its rigidity is maintained throughout the manufacturing process, which gives a beautiful final symmetry to the flaps. It is very resistant to abrasion and friction, which is a guarantee of durability. When we make saddles by hand, we want them to last over time and above all to keep their shape and aesthetics. I know that the flaps of my saddles will not wear out prematurely. With this quality of leather, the friction of the stirrup does not mark."
"Also making leisure, hiking or endurance saddles, I also know that this leather will have good water resistance, that a race or a hike in the rain will not ruin my work, and above all that it there will be no problems with shade fading or excessive reaction to drying which could degrade the aesthetics of the flaps. Despite this rigidity, its fedding makes it pleasant to sew by hand. Given the lengths of sewing that making a saddle flap requires, it had better not be an ordeal!."
"Finally, this leather can also be used to make special pieces. When it is necessary to make a slightly more rigid top of the nose for example, it lends itself very well to side-pulls made in the workshop, resulting from the work in common with a professional specializing in the well-being of horses."

Presentation of Fellegvári András shoemaker
After completing his studies as a geography and environment teacher, Mr András Fellegvári turned to shoemaking. After following numerous training courses, notably in a workshop in Budapest, he opened his workshop in Pécs in Hungary: Fellegvári András shoemaker. There he makes men's shoes from a variety of materials, both elegant and casual, all of high quality. Mr András Fellegvári's favorite materials are leathers with character, slightly rustic materials suitable for casual outfits.
Mr András Fellegvári also makes, mainly on order, saddle stitched small leathergoods, such as card holders, belts, and watch straps. Mr András Fellegvári strives to source materials from ethical sources, as his customers are keen to buy local and good quality products. For belts he prefers thicker butts with solid brass or stainless steel buckles, that combination can last for decades.
Testimony of Fellegvári András shoemaker
"I think I first discovered Printed Gavarnie leather on social media. I instantly fell in love with that special look you can not find anywhere else. The grain pattern reminds me of vintage watch straps from the '70s. I personally prefer to pair it with a steel buckle but we also made a couple of belts with solid brass buckles. It's a quite firm leather made on half butts which makes it ideal for belt making. Also, it does have relatively high oil content so the edge work is a joy, burnishing is done easily with some Tokonole. Radermecker Tannery was always very helpful & easy to deal with. That's very important to us."
