Features of saddle leather Niagara half-back dyed :

Niagara saddle leather is 100% natural leather. It is an unpressed, uncorrected full-grain leather, with smooth dyed grain and flesh. It is vegetable-tanned, and therefore non-allergenic. Vegetable tannins provide firmness and high resistance to elongation. This leather has an aniline finish that preserves its natural appearance. Dyed Niagara half-back is available in Black, Chocolate, Havana and Cognac aniline finishes. It is heart-fed in a tallow bath (a mixture of paraffin and beef fat), more commonly known as " tallow leather". This food makes for easier cutting and working, as well as greater resistance to water. Tallow also ensures maintenance-free leather, as the fat is constantly added to the surface of the leather, giving it the nourishment it needs and an excellent patina. Thanks to this nourishment, Niagara saddle leather is highly resistant to outdoor use, rejecting any external disturbance (water / salty environment). This makes Niagara saddle leather ideal for intensive wear and tear, such as in the equestrian sector.

Origins of Niagara dyed half back:

Niagara half-backs come from selected beef and bull farms in France, Germany, Spain and Italy. To ensure the quality of the leather used in production, a leather traceability process has been set up at Radermecker Tannery. The hides are marked 3 times with 3 identifiers at each stage: on receipt of the hides, enabling traceability of the origin of the hides; during the tanning process; during the finishing process.

Uses of half-back Niagara dyed:

Niagara saddle leather in dyed half-back can be used for harness parts such as halters, snaffles, harnesses, bridle reins, headpieces, uprights, nosebands, lanyards, throat lashes and girths.
It can also be used in leather goods, especially when you need long lengths of leather: belts, wallets, card holders, key rings, bags, saddlebags, pouches, bracelets, watch straps, under-hands, knife sheaths, dog and cat collars, etc.
It can also be used in furnishings: réalization or restoration of thick, rigid leather chair or armchair seats, office worktop coverings, dressing room door coverings.
Niagara saddle leather can be finished with our slice waxes, available in Black, Chocolate, Havana and Cognac..
The Niagara saddle leather can be molded, as well as branded (hot and cold).
Embossing on our Niagara saddle leather is not recommended, as the leather will regain its natural thickness and the embossed patterns will fade over time. For embossing work on leather, we recommend our natural Pykara saddle leather in shouldershoulder, shoulder and shoulderstrap .

Dimensions and hide area of saddle leather Niagara half-back dyed:

The half-back is made up of shoulder and butt. It's a half-skin with the sides removed. Its advantage is that it can be used for very long lengths, as in saddlery. We offer 2 sizes:

  • From 1.60 to 1.80m² with a length greater than 180cm and a width greater than 60cm
  • From 1.81 to 2.00m² with a length greater than 200cm and a width greater than 60cm

In the "Guaranteed dimensions" tab above, you'll find an explanatory diagram of the "half-back" and the corresponding guaranteed dimensions.

Care instructions for saddle leather Niagara half-back dyed:

For the maintenance of Niagara saddle leather: Thanks to the feeding in tallow bath, the fat is impregnated on the whole thickness of Niagara saddle leather, so there is no need for feeding over time. Food can be applied to the grain to ensure its fatty appearance or to accelerate the patina of the leather. This care of the grain ensures a longer life for the leather. Our Niagara saddle leather will resist moisture. Just let them dry at room temperature and they will regain their appearance. Due to its nourishment in a tallow bath (grease), on temperature shocks, a whitish film of paraffin rise can form. Simply rub it off.
