Half backs are available in 2 sizes:
- from 1.60 to 1.80m² (with guaranteed minimum dimensions L=180cm & W=60cm)
- from 1.81 to 2.00m² (with guaranteed minimum dimensions L=200cm & W=60cm)

What is the tanning of the half-back?

The Niagara half-back are vegetable tannedThis is a non-allergenic leather. The vegetable tannins give firmness and a high resistance to elongation. The Boyoma half-backs are double-tanned, which brings softeness to the leather

What is the finish of the half-back?

The half back are available in natural and aniline finish black, chocolate, havana*, cognac* and victoria*.
* only for Niagara leather.

Niagara half-back and Boyoma half-back, which to choose?

  • The Niagara half-back natural and dyed being vegetable tanned, is a more ecological and non-allergenic leather. This full-grain leather makes it possible to produce harness with a beautiful patina. Feeding this Niagara saddle leather enhances its color and patina.
  • The Boyoma half-back dyed being double-tanned, is a softer leather, but above all has a higher tear strength. This full grain leather has very little patina. Boyoma full-grain leather requires no maintenance, even over the years.
What leather items can be made with the half back?
  • The half back can be used for harness such as halters, snaffles, harnesses, bridle reins, headpieces, uprights, nosebands, Straps, throat lashes, girths, etc.
  • The half back can also be used in leather goods especially when you need long lengths of leather: belts, wallets, card holders, key rings, bags, purses, pouches, bracelets, watch straps, underpads, knife cases, dog and cat collars, etc.
