Aniline dye for vegetable and mineral tanned leather

The advantage of a pure aniline dye for natural leather

What is aniline dye for leather?

If you are a leather craftsman working with natural leather and wish to add colour to your saddlery items or leather goods, aniline leather dye is an excellent way of personalising all your creations while preserving the natural appearance of the leather.
Aniline dyes are produced in the Tannery, based on the shade of Radermecker saddle leathers: Black, Chocolate, Havana, Cognac and Victoria.
The aniline dye is an organic solvent base with alcohol. This solvent base acts as a penetrant/thinner with the dyes.
Aniline dyes are available in 250ml bottles.

On which leathers can aniline dyes be applied?

Aniline dyes can be applied to all our natural saddle leathers vegetable or mineral tanned leather.

Advice on the use and application of our aniline leather dyes

Make sure the surface of your leather is as clean as possible.
The result will depend on the technique used: aniline leather dye can be applied with a brush, a wool applicator, an airbrush, a sponge or a sprayer (for large surfaces).
Is it necessary to wet the leather before applying the dye? Applying the dye to un-wetted leather will help control the spread of the dye. However, a dye will be more evenly distributed on wet leather.
A second application of the aniline leather dye can be made to achieve some evenness in the shade of the leather.
The aniline leather dye can be diluted with these solvents (isopropyl alcohol and methyl proxitol), so that the dye is less concentrated, but remains the same if several applications are made. In order to obtain other shades, the aniline leather dyes can be mixed together. It is not possible to mix aniline leather dyes with edges paint because the polyurethane base and the aqueous pigments will not mix with the solvent, and this may produce a precipitated molasses.
After dyeing with our aniline leather dyes, it is not necessary to apply a fixative, as the composition of the aniline dye allows a very good penetration of the aniline into the leather and thus acts as a fixative.
When working with leather edges, it is necessary to apply a layer of edges paint, for this purpose discover our edges paint for leather available in black, chocolate, havana, cognac and victoria.
