Hukou saddle leather is the leather for horse saddles. Hukou half-hide is a full-grain, unpressed, uncorrected saddle leather with visible grain. This leather has an aniline finish that preserves the natural appearance of the leather. It has a through-tone and is enhanced by velvet-tinted flesh. The leather is vegetable-tanned to preserve certain technical features. It is characterized by a high degree of softness, giving it a silky touch throughout its life. It will absorb food perfectly throughout its life. Wrinkles and grain are particularly pronounced on Hukou leather.

Origins of Hukou half hide:

Hukou half hides come from selected beef and bull farms in France, Germany, Spain and Italy. To ensure the quality of the leather used in its production, Radermecker Tannery has set up a leather traceability process. The hides are marked 3 times with 3 identifiers at each stage: on receipt of the hides, enabling traceability of the origin of the hides; during the tanning process; during the finishing process.

Use of half hide Hukou :

Hukou leather is the leather for horse saddles. We recommend the use of our Hukou saddle leather in half hide in thickness 2/3mm for horse saddle seats and in thickness 1.5-2mm for horse saddle cushions as well as for horse saddle flap linings.
Hukou saddle leather can also be used for linings of harness parts, as well as for draft horse collars.
Hukou saddle leather can also be used to make soft leather goods such as bags, aprons, purses, etc.

Dimensions and hide area of Hukou saddle leather :

The full Hide  Hukou includes the shoulder, butt and sides. The Hukou half hide is a full hide cut lengthwise from shoulder to butt. We offer 2 sizes:

• From 1.50 to 1.75m² with a length greater than 150cm and a width greater than 75cm
• From 1.76 to 2.00m² with a length greater than 170cm and a width greater than 85cm

Care instructions of Hukou saddle leather :

For generalcare of your leathers, we recommend that you: Pay particular attention to exposure to light, which can alter the color of your leathers; Always dust your leathers with a dry cloth before applying a specific treatment. If your leather comes into contact with water, allow it to dry naturally at room temperature, without any additional heat source.
The care of Hukou saddle leather: Feeding the grain will nourish the areas between the hide pores and the pores themselves. It's the same process as feeding your hands when the hide is dry. Our Hukou saddle leather is moisture-resistant, so simply let it dry at room temperature and it will look as good as new. Moistening Hukou leather gives it greater elasticity and longevity, and it will shrink during drying without altering the softness of the hand.
