Hukou leather is the soft leather for leather goods. Hukou half hide is a full-grain , unpressed, uncorrected saddle leather with visible grain. This leather benefits from an aniline finish that preserves the natural look of the leather and all the beauty of this material, and preserves the particularity of each hide. The dye penetrates right to the heart of the leather, and is enhanced by velvet-tinted flesh. This is vegetable-tanned leather. It is characterized by a high degree of softness, giving it a silky touch throughout its life. It will absorb food perfectly throughout its life. Wrinkles and grain are particularly pronounced on Hukou leather.
Origin of Hukou half hide :
Hukou half hides come from selected beef or bull farms in France, Germany, Spain or Italy. To ensure the quality of the leather used in its production, Radermecker Tannery has set up a leather traceability process. The hides are marked 3 times with 3 identifiers at each stage: on receipt of the hides, enabling traceability of the origin of the hides; during the tanning process; during the finishing process.
Uses of Hukou half hide :
Hukou half hide is ideal for leather goods: bags, purses, aprons, etc.
Hukou saddle leather can also be used to make horse saddle seats and saddle cushions, as well as linings for horse saddle flaps.
Hukou saddle leather can also be used for linings for harness parts and draft horse collars.
Dimensions and hide area of Hukou half hide :
The Hukou half hide includes the shoulder, butt and sides, and is cut lengthwise from shoulder to butt. We offer 2 sizes:
- From 1.50 to 1.75m² with a length greater than 150cm and a width greater than 75cm
- From 1.76 to 2.00m² with a length greater than 170cm and a width greater than 85cm

Care instructions of Hukou half hide :
Tocare for your leathers, we recommend that you: pay particular attention to exposure to light, which can alter the color of your leathers; always dust your leathers with a dry cloth before applying a specific treatment. If your leather comes into contact with water, allow it to dry naturally at room temperature, without any additional heat source.
To care for Hukou saddle leather: Feeding the grain will nourish the areas between the hide pores and the pores themselves. It's the same process as feeding your hands when the hide is dry. Our Hukou saddle leather is moisture-resistant, so simply let it dry at room temperature and it will look as good as new. Moistening Hukou leather gives it greater elasticity and longevity, and it will shrink during drying without altering the softness of the hand.
