The quality of our vegetable-tanned, aniline-finished half-back strips Niagara for your leather goods.

Features of Niagara dyed half back leather strip :

The saddle leather Niagara is a 100% natural leather. It is a full grain leather, not pressed, not corrected, with a smooth grain and flesh. It is a vegetable tanned leather and therefore a non-allergenic leather. The vegetable tannins give firmness and a strong resistance to elongation. This leather has an aniline finish which preserves the natural appearance of the leather. The half-back strip Niagara dyed is available in Black, Chocolate, Havana, Cognac and Victoria aniline finishes. It is fed in a tallow bath (a mixture of paraffin and beef fat), more commonly known as "tallow leather". This food makes it easier to cut and work, as well as being more resistant to water. The tallow makes it possible to have a leather without maintenance because the fat is given in a constant way on the surface of the leather, giving it the necessary food and a patina of excellence. Thanks to this nourishment, the saddle leather Niagara has an advanced resistance in outdoor use, it will reject any external disturbance (water / salty environment). This saddle leather is therefore suitable for intensive wear.

Origin of Niagara dyed half back leather strip :

Niagara dyed half back leather strips come fromselected beef and bullfarms in France, Germany, Spain and Italy. To ensure the quality of the leather linked to its production, a leather traceability process has been set up at Radermecker Tannery. The hides are marked 3 times with 3 identifiers at each stage: on receipt of the hides, enabling traceability of the origin of the hides; during the tanning process; during the finishing process.

Uses of Niagara dyed half back leather strip :

Niagara half back dyed leather strip can be used in leather goods, especially when you need long lengths of leather: belts, wallets, card holders, key rings, bags, purses, pouches, wristbands, watch straps, underpads, knife cases, dog and cat collars, etc. It is the most popular leather for belts because of its natural finish, resistance to elongation and long life.
It can also be used in furniture: making or restoring the seat of a chair or armchair in thick, rigid leather, covering the work surface of an office, covering the doors of a dressing room.
It can also be used for harnessing parts: halters, snaffles, harnesses, bridle reins, headpieces, uprights, frontals, nosebands, Straps, girths, etc.
Niagara saddle leather can be finished with our slice waxes available in Black, Chocolate, Havana, Cognac and Victoria.
Moulding and branding (hot and cold) can be done with Niagara saddle leather.
Embossing on our Niagara leather is not recommended, as the leather will regain its natural thickness and the patterns will fade over time. For leather embossing, we recommend our natural Pykara saddle leather in shoulder half shoulder, quarter shoulder and thong shoulder.

Dimensions and hide area of Niagara dyed half back leather strip :

The half-back is made up of shoulder and butt. It is therefore a half-hide from which the sides have been removed. Its advantage is that it can be used in very long lengths, as in saddlery. On Niagara dyed half back leather strip, we offer 2 minimum lengths of 180cm and 220cm and a minimum width of 30cm. In the "Guaranteed dimensions" tab above, you'll find an explanatory diagram of "half-back strp" and the corresponding guaranteed dimensions.

Care instructions of Niagara dyed half back leather strip :

For the care of the saddle leather Niagara, thanks to the feeding in suet bath, the fat is impregnated on the whole thickness of the leather, so there is no need for feeding over time. Food can be applied to the grain to ensure that it remains fat or to accelerate the patina of the leather. This care of the grain ensures a longer life for the leather. Our saddle leather Niagara will resist humidity. Simply leave it to dry at room temperature and it will regain its appearance. Because it is fed in a tallow bath, a whitish film of paraffin residue can form on temperature shocks. Simply rub it off.
