« When I started Atelier TraLinLer and working with vegetable tanned leather, it was largely because of the more virtuous qualities for the environment of this method of tanning – the leather industry today producing leathers in often catastrophic human and environmental conditions - it is therefore quite natural that I turned to the leathers of Radermecker Tannery, which is committed to an environmental approach on the treatment of water, the traceability of hides , and the preservation of artisanal know-how… And this know-how of the craftsmen of the tannery is reflected in the superb quality of the hides!

"It is therefore with great pleasure that I work with Pykara full-grain leather from Radermecker Tannery on a daily basis, whether for embossing work for which this leather is a delight to work with, but also plain pieces for which the excellent quality of the hides chosen and of the tanning ensures uniform dyeing without damaged areas. If the grain is of high quality, the flesh side is not left out with a very pleasant texture to the touch and a fine graininess which leaves very few fibers visible when cutting or trimming which is very pleasant for the finishes and edge work"

"I use the Pykara in a natural finish, which gives free rein to creativity, and which, thanks to its pronounced flexibility for vegetable tanning, is perfectly suited to a multitude of objects, both small leather goods (card holder, tobacco pouches, etc.) for the thinnest thicknesses, and straps and belts for the greater thicknesses."

It all started with the reenactment association “ Les héritiers de Château-Gaillard”, of which Mr Laurent Thizy has been a very active member for many years. In order to present a craft from the Middle Ages during medieval festivals, he made the choice to learn traditional leather work. Leather then becomes obvious to him. After training for years, Mr Laurent Thizy founded Légendes Celtes, a workshop based in Gravigny in France. He offers personalized artisanal creations in vegetable-tanned and recycled leather.

"I need natural vegetable-tanned leather for my work, because it's the only one that absorbs moisture and allows me to engrave the different patterns. I naturally turned to the natural Pykara range with which I started."

"The leather absorbs water well and the scoring knife glides nicely along my lines. It allows me to work well in depth. On the dyeing side, nothing to complain about, it absorbs colors well and some shades even have a “warmer” color than usual. A very good value for money for demanding customers as the final quality."
