What is natural leather?

Leather natural leather has no aniline, aniline or pigmented dyes or finishes. The leather therefore has its natural color.


What is vegetable tanned leather?

Vegetable tanning is the oldest process. It requires the use of vegetable tannins such as quebracho, mimosa, chestnut or oak bark powder. The choice of tannins used depends on the animal species from which the hide comes and the properties required for the leather.

Natural Niagara saddle leather or natural Pykara saddle leather, which one to choose?

The difference between natural Niagara saddle leather and natural Pykara saddle leather is in the feeding of the leather.

  • Niagara natural saddle leather is fed in a grease bath, making it easier to cut and work, and more resistant to water. This feeding also makes for maintenance-free leather, since the grease is constantly applied to the surface of the leather. tallow leather is particularly resistant to outdoor environments and intensive use.
  • Pykara leather is emulsion-fed. This is a liquid oil feed that we add to our drums. This food is suitable for hide or leather goods requiring a high fat-free finish.
  • Dyeing, molding and marking are possible on Niagara and Pykara natural leathers, but embossing is only possible on Pykara natural leather. If embossing is carried out on Niagara natural leather, as the leather is saturated with grease, the patterns will fade over time as the leather regains its natural thickness.
