Saddle seat restoration with Angel  saddle leather by l'Atelier du Cuir

After working for 11 years in a company specialized in the manufacture of concrete products, Mrs Magali Gautier decided to reorient her professional career in craftsmanship. Passionated about horses, her choice naturally fell on the profession of saddler/harnesser, leather work, creation, repair and renovation. After training, Mrs Magali Gautier created her workshop in Poussignac in France: L'Atelier du Cuir. She therefore carries out all repairs on the saddles (seat, padding, cleats, girth staps, stirrup, saddle flaps, etc.) but also makes unique creations such as halters, stirrups or belts

Testimony of L'Atelier du Cuir

"I am a new customer of Radermecker Tannery, I wanted to try their leather following many positive reviews that I had read. Having a riding saddle seat to be restored, and still having trouble supplying me, whether in terms of the type of leather and the shade, I took the opportunity to place an order with them, my choice was made on Angel leather havana shade. It is a very soft leather, very easy to put on, the thickness, the touch, and the smell!!! A pure delight. The hide is very large, this makes it possible to make several repairs on several saddles. After reassembling the different parts of the saddle, I apply oil to properly nourish the leather."

Ms Nele De Smet set up her creative leather workshop, Atelier Nestor, around July last year in her home town of Ninove, Belgium. When she finished her training as a saddler a few years ago, the passion for the old traditional craft techniques and making something with her own hands from a beautiful piece of leather became a part of her life. Ms. Nele De Smet likes to create unique and durable leather objects of high quality that can be personalised and custom-made. Also restoring and repairing leather items with a history to last a lifetime is one of the crafts you can find at Atelier Nestor. Nestor's name is a reminder of the importance of passing on this knowledge of leather goods and keeping this passion alive through teaching and workshops, just like his father, who passes on his infinite know-how every day.

Apron made with Angel leather by Atelier Nestor

"The black Angel leather that I have used to make a custom fitted apron for a goldsmith, was a true pleasure to work with, just like all the other leather hides that Tannerie Radermecker has to offer. It has an incredible souple texture and the beautiful coloured full grain top side (also in the Havane color) makes a perfect combination with the velvet flesh side. It really shows off the quality of the leather and gives my work a luxurious look and feel. With a thickness from 1,3mm to 2mm it is light to work with and to wear when used for aprons, yet you can immediately tell the difference in quality and durability when comparing it to other soft thin leathers. Once you've touched the Angel leather, you're sold for good!"
