Ely'o Saddlery

Newsleather Radermecker - Ely'o Saddlery

Based in Châtel-Montage in France, Ely'o Saddlery  is a craft saddlery whose main activity is the custom fabrication of equin material (harnesses, bridles, side-pulls, etc.), but also leather jewels, leathercraft, and accessories for medieval suits. All articles are made and hand-sewn with vegetable tanning leather.
Ely'o Saddlery uses the Niagara especially for its bridles realisations.

"I am using Niagara for 4 years. I went around several tanneries, I tried out several leathers, but I have not found elsewhere a leather that suits me better. It is pleasant and comfortable to work, it gives a very nice patina and ages beautifully. Well nourished, it is flexible and does not require oiling before being used. In addition, its maintenance is easy and short time-consuming, wich riders appreciate. In time, it become more flexible without ever losing its outfit. Its color changes over time and reveals its nuances. My clientele is convinced, and only swear by the Niagara for my achievements in bridle !"

Cover & Couch

Newsleather Radermecker - Cover and Couch

Cover & Couch is an upholstery studio based in Antwerp, Belgium, founded by Sophie Doore 8 years ago. Working with vintage dealers, interior architects, designers and private clients, She makes contemporary and classic pieces combining  a blend of traditional and modern upholstery techniques, with great attention to detail and respect for the original design.
Sophie Doore uses the Niagara for Pierre Paulin model AP14 or "Anneau chair". The chair on this picture is available via City Furniture.

"To make this chair, I'm using 2 Niagara necks. Together, they form a kind of ring (hence the name of the chair) which fits around a frame. In my opinion, the beauty of this material is in its simplicity and anthenticity. Niagara already has a natural patina, which would normally appears only through time. Every skin is unique. Depending on the exposure to light, the environmental conditions and use, this material becomes even richer."

Jeffrey Vanhille

Newsleather Radermecker - Jeffrey Vanhille

Located in Bruges, Belgium, Jeffrey Vanhille is an upholsterer and furniture restorer specialising in mid-twentieth century modern furniture. The emphasis of his work is on maintaining the original design. He tries to work with European products as much as possible. He works with private clients, art galleries and a large Belgian private bank. Jeffrey Vanhille uses Niagara for his chairs.

"Niagara is one of the favorites in the atelier. This very reliable durable leather, in wathever thickness, gives me a peace of mind when I deliver at a client's house. Sometimes the leather is used on frames, where all the seating pressure is concentrated on the floating area. Niagara carries the body in full strength, without hardly giving in on shape. And the stitching remains in place, without cutting into the leather. Using the leather during the build-up of the furniture is a pure pleasure. Cutting it is like preparing a fresh buttered sandwich. Sharp knives go through in beautiful straight lines. And next to all of this, there is the absolutely beautiful and unique patina one can give to the leather. I keep on experimenting on it, and experience real happiness when I see all this beauty coming out of it. Niagara leather makes me love my job ! "
