Mr Peter Otermans is a craftsman based in Hoensbroek in the Netherlands. He makes leather goods, mainly belts, based on a family heritage. He brings this family craftmanship back to life by making all his leather goods by hand. These Realizations tell the story of his hometown, Hoensbroek, where his family has lived and worked for over 300 years.
"I give my belts, which are 3.5 to 4mm thick, a robust, elegant and solid appearance. Pykara leather is perfect for this purpose. It's not too stiff, easy to dye and gives a beautiful patina. Pykara leather is easy to work, a considerable advantage when you're making, as I do, by hand. I make my leather goods only from vegetable leather, so Pykara is the most appropriate option for me."
